our trips abroad certainly have an odd sense of…

sheesh!

jumped on a train out of bangkok last night, all was normal.
got a frantic phone call a few hours later from a friend living there that there was a coup in progress. meep!
tanks on the street, that kind of thing.

all is normal up in chiang mai, where we are.
spotted a few soldiers walking around, but nothing dodgy.
waiting to see what this’ll do to our travelling around SEA. hmm.

key point: we are fine and have not been run over by tanks.

…timing.

touchdown!

howdy.

safely landed in bangkok after a very interesting journey here (more on that later) and happily munching away on thai food (since we don’t get much of that at home… HA!).

off up north tonight on the sleeper train to chiang mai where we’ll get most of the stuff for the shop. plus, get to go back to the two guy (more on that later) and stroll around the town finding new schweet food spots.

thailand doth rock.

plus, i bought some new shirts. supplies were running low.
my new favourite brand: garbang. word.

gah!

also shgya!
and hnghh.

wow, time has been going by at the speed of, erm, time. recently.
lots was going on, distracting us, then all of a sudden me and p realised we were about to go to thailand. gah!

cue a week of uber-frantic activity doing our usual last minute doing of stuff, most of which has now been done.
list includes travellers cheques, foreign cash, international drivers license, doing something about the (ex-)roachmobile, packing, new pin number for card, buying an african mask for thai friends, sorting out stock delivery that should’ve been here weeks ago, and spending two days in the kitchen for polish christmas in july in august in september.
meh.

so, tonight we fly to joburg, stay in the airport all night, spend all day saturday airporting and flying, arrive in bangkok saturday night ours / sunday morning theirs.

the plan is to spend a few days chilling. starting with dinner with nat and big on sunday night - woo! :D
we’re there for three weeks. probably going laos, vietnam and thailand this trip.
hmm.
despite the extreme hectic-ness of all this running around and stuff, i’m really looking forward to the trip. great food, great people, potential for lots of barners action.

in “how cool?!” news, an american lady just bought some stuff from the shop because of a referral a colleague gave her. in san franciso! erk! also, woo.

now i must kick back and relax for the rest of the day in the shop.
white wine is more of a morning drink than red wine, hey?

can anyone tell me why my yoghurt has “Godfrey” printed under the sell by date?
