embarrassing moments in my life #2516:

got a call from someone at a dinner me and jo were also supposed to be at.
while we were in the middle of wolfing down last night’s braai leftovers.
good thing we eat a lot - had two dinners! :D

in unrelated news, saw some guy in the spar today promoting the carabao energy drink (love the domain name on that link, btw).
seems a bit of a waste of branding because it comes from a thai ethno-rock band (and not the buffalo. although the band get their name from it. they carry around a skull of one. it’s all a bit odd.) that i doubt many people over here are familiar with.

apparently the drink is quite popular in the states.
mind you, it is america. *shudder*

wow, what a (weally) wonderful weekend.

on friday night we popped over to the new house with our (current) neighbours and popped a bottle of champagne and went “woo!” a lot. it was very cool. sitting on a nice big wooden floor, drinking wine, in a mostly empty house is definitely under-rated.

saturday was a day of eXtreme™ hard work.
some featured items: many big white kitchen-type appliances; huge number of boxes of clothes and things; giant suitcases and bags (on wheels) filled to bursting point with books; jeremy’s ginormous trailer (oo-er); well deserved prego steak rolls and chips (and wine).
highlight (for a given value of high. and light.): taking the fecking heavy washing machina down stairs, along the corridor, down more stairs, onto the trailer, drive, arrive, then through the house, down some stairs, through the garden to the laundry room. eep!

sunday was a day of hard chill. we went off for a few hours to do some hardware kind of shopping, then came home and made a table. as you do.
then jean arrived and we spent the rest of the day sitting in the sun on the deck, dipping in and out of the pool, drinking g&t’s and chilled sangiovese (not mixed together).
i like our new house!
the decadence continued into the evening.
the german, the doc and her mum popped round for a guided tour and some champagne then we all trundled back to braai central for the usual sunday stuffing.
it was a good day. very good. : )

bits of woo

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

Things are really rocking and rolling around here at the roment (despite being busy as fuck).
There’s loads going on all over the place.
Basically, I’m very happy in Cape Town and I’m very glad we moved here… :D

The new stock for Teh Shop is awesomely cooly cool.
Me like-ee. My personal favourite is the notebooks. Shiny.
I’m in the process of taking pictures for the site, which is quite hard, but fun, work.
Teh Shop looks more ‘finished’ now with the bits of furniture that we bought.
More Thai, too.

Cape Town is so pretty!
The mountain is, of course, TheBestThingEver™, but there’re loads of bits nearby that also rock (ahem).
Over the past few weeks we’ve been going places and doing lots of things to entertain visiting peeps. Just the same kind of things we normally do, but more compressed to fit them all into a week or two for the visitors.
Highest featured feature is wine. Also highly featured are food, sunsets, cool clouds, visiting people’s houses and braais.

Bestest news of the moment is that we’re moving house this weekend - woo!
I will be so happy to move. So, so happy.
Our current digs is ridiculously small for the two of us and it’s been bugging me for yonks.
It’s been great in terms of finances and things, but the time has come for us to move on.

Pics of the new place will go up shortly-ish.
Once I’ve finished running around it going “Sproing!” and sock sliding on the wooden floors and dipping in the pool and cooking on our gas stove and watching p paint in the studio in the garden and watering our many herbs and eating avocados and bananas from our trees.
Tee hee!

my fridge

Friday, December 1st, 2006

i like the fridge in the shop.
it is small and white.
it keeps things cold.

today it is keeping cold:
four bottles of beer;
three bottles of cider;
two cans of dry lemon;
one bottle of tonic;
*drum roll* six bottles of champagne (for tomorrow’s shop birthday bash thing).

shamone.
dude.
