Friday, March 16th, 2007me, cats, and sneezing
Thursday, March 15th, 2007I used to be very allergic to cats.
Sneezey McSneeziod they used to call me.
But, I found that exposure to them, especially getting kittens in my own house, has lessened my reaction greatly.
However, (and this is a word of warning to people who may be in a similar situation / condition to me) do not let your cat rub its head against the inside your nostrils.
You will regret it and you will sneeze a lot.
That is all.

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007max went off to the waterfront last night to take pics of stuff.
here’s a pic andrew took of me.
i mean him.
GLOW!
check out the rest of the album too.
it’s cool.
beer-a-ccino.
Wednesday, March 14th, 2007in raising-one-eyebrow-slightly news, painfully trendy coffee shop vida has (according to the Voice of Truth, local newspaper “the people’s post”) applied for a liquor license.
i think i’ll be having a guiness with cinnamon and nutmeg sprinkles.
more cream, less foam!
it’s not you, it’s me
Tuesday, March 13th, 2007hmm.
there’s this thing that happens.
people come into the shop, i say hi, they look scared and badgered and say something like: “just browsing, thanks”1 or “can i have a look around?”2.
i’ve figured out why.
it’s me.
i think i extend the hello look a smidgen too long.
it pushes through their glance-greet comfort zone.
i should use military precision and efficiency: ‘turn - hello - return.’
hmm.

1 - eh? i didn’t ask you a question. i didn’t offer my shop guiding services. i didn’t even make a move to stand up. i can see you’re browsing. that’s what people do in shops.
2 - yes, of course you fucking can. it’s a shop. you look, you think, maybe you buy. what if i say no? “sorry, this is one of those close-your-eyes shops.”
3 - i appear to be a bit grumpy today.
this…
Monday, March 12th, 2007…is why, despite going to bed at 2 on saturday night, i got up at 5 on sunday morning.
the cape argus cycle tour thing.
it was a very cool experience.
hanging around and taking pictures that is - not participating.
lots of bits quite similar to the two oceans marathon that we ‘did’ last year.
dark, early, a bit chilly, lots of people in brightly coloured clothing being all chummy and cheery and happy.
(light) years’ ahead of it’s’ time
Friday, March 9th, 2007Despite it being mentioned on the wikipedia article, I’d completely forgotten that Babylon 5 has the first EVAH use of the word Interweb until recently.
Awesome.
