pseudo-random weirdness
Tuesday, July 31st, 2007presented without comment…
so, i was out “working” yesterday and Nants was looking after Teh Shop.
Crazy Portuguese landlady pops in, asks Nant “where’s your dad? isn’t he in today?”
many jobs
Friday, July 27th, 2007As of next week I’ll be doing three jobs at once - woo!
1. Teh Shop
2. Web coding and hosting
3. Strategic IT Optimisation Consultant for Jo’s company
The middle one is only about a third of job, really.
I made up the name for the last one, but the job itself is real.
Fo’ rizzle, yo.
A guy at their company has just left, and given my experience with Actuarial stuff, specifically the IT side of it (sorting out spreadsheets, automating things, that kind of hoo haa), I fit the bill nicely
.
It’s a schweet deal: I’ll be doing three days of work a week for them, but I’ll only spend a day (or, likely, a half day) in their offices - the rest of the time I’ll be in Teh Shop.
Awesome, eh?
Plus, since the money will be going through our CC* the tax will be tiny!
In conclusion: yay, money!

* - the closed corporation that Teh Shop is. Since I’m still, technically, a ferner here, I don’t have a work permit and can’t be employed by anyone.
I can only work for the CC. It can do whatever kind of work it likes, though! ![]()
discovery of the day
Thursday, July 26th, 2007wet cannons are louder than dry ones.
Important Life Skills
Wednesday, July 11th, 2007Tossing.
The art of being able to throw something (such as a remote control, a dry wors, or a torch. you get the idea. vaguely phallic seems to be the easiest to do.), spinning it around in the air, with it returning to your hand in the original state.
Illustration after the jump…
I’ve only recently been able to do this.
Previously, I’d never got the “return to original state” bit right.
Now I seem to be able to do it with a wide variety of objects.
And sometimes I do it without noticing.
It’s become a reflex thingy.
Groovy.
so, what’s up?
Monday, July 9th, 2007Teh Shop
Doing surprisingly well given the mostly crappy weather.
And that it’s winter.
Last week was good, previous week Very Good ™.
Woo!
Also, we put a small ad in a local freebie magazine thingy - our ad in the interweb version of myweek ad directory. The print version was 70 x 60 mm.
Social
We’re in the middle in another one of those bits of life where we’re doing something pretty much every day ( mostly feeding or being fed
).
Is cool, me like.
Get to see lots of people, get to have lots of tasty food.
The avo picking party got rained off last weekend (and became a cook stuff on the fire party instead), but we had one for breakfast this morning and those muthas are ripe for the plucking. Invites to go out shortly. Once we figure out when the other couple of weekend activities that we planned at our house are going to happen. As discussed yesterday, maybe our house needs a newsletter…
Playing with myself (sometimes with Jo watching)
Got two new PS2 games: killer7 and Okami.
Both of the “I don’t know WTF is going on, but it’s cool!” variety.
I like fringey games.
Also new DS game Contact - about to dive into that one and ignore the customers for the rest of the day. After I finish pricing the new stock in the shop. And sorting out the pic on the camera.
Max Barners stuff
Really getting into the photomagraph stuff nowadays.
Taking days off from work and going on speditions with a few friends, even doing flickr meetup jobbies at air force bases!
Woo!
