Woo!
Parfait bought me a Wii!
Woo!

It is very awesome, but I still managed to get to work on time.
Apologies in advance for Wii-based puns that will follow in the next few months.

Gah!
Suddenly very busy today doing web work.
Gah!

bo kaap wall

Monday, November 19th, 2007

So, I had an idea for a Photo Project ™ - walk around Bo Kaap and shoot a roll of film of the bit where the walls join between the colourfully painted houses.
Then print out said film at normal size (4×6″ / 10×15cm / laughably called Jumbo) and slap lots of them together in a big frame.
I done didded it.
Click for big version to see details and texturey bits.

Bonus points to anyone who can tell me where in the house it hangs.

money maker, my, possibly shaking of

Friday, November 16th, 2007

I went on an early morning photo dojo with the flickr monkey.
It was lovely. Boing!

On the drive to town, I had a money making scheme idea thing.
A LOL Box.
Like a swear box, but for leetspeak.

“Oh noez, roffle!” I hear you say.
That’s two quid, I say.

Potential implementations: classic box-with-coin-slot in the office; PayPal linked filter on blog comment box.

Filter may have to be fairly advanced.
Needs irony index calculation.

This post brought to you by a conversation with Amanda on the way to the flickrmeet, and by seeing StupidFilter the other day and thinking “Hmm”.

Word (up)

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

I need help.
Well, I need a word.
An adjective.

The thing that made me think of this is that I wanted to describe a vegetarian who’s not strictly a vegetarian.
You know - the kind that says they’re veggie, but also eats fish and chicken (possibly mixed together).

They’re [insert Teh Word here] vegetarians.

Lapsed?
Pseudo?
Lying?

Help me, gentleladies and gentlemen.
Thank you, please.

Thank you, commenty people :-) .
I’m actually after something more general though.
An adjective I can stick in front of other words, not just meat and two veg(etarians) related.
Meant to say that straight off the bat.
Soz.

Christmas in November

Monday, November 12th, 2007

Sigh.

Bad: “Festive” decorations in the shops already.
Worse: “Festive” music being played in shops already.
Even worserer: Having the “festive” fucking music in your fucking head all the fucking way down the fucking hill to fucking work.
Gah!

In unrelated news: I want a puppy. :)

Interesting turn of phrase

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

From the people that brought you “Is more beautiful what she pack” comes the sequel (that also almost makes sense):

Game Intelligence - Magnetic Force
Inspire their intelligence growth continuously, let them even have the advantage in 21 century!

From fridge alphabet and numbers.
Awesome.

must be (almost) summer again

tale of the unexpected

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

So, I (with my Max hat on) went off on a spedition to the docks yesterday with Hendrik, Andrew and Rudy. Early.

We were pottering around by the water and we spotted a thing that looked like a bus stop.
Turns out it was a boat stop.
A little tug thing stopped and picked up some guy who’d been standing about.
Then the helper-getter-oner waved at us and told us to come and jump on.
He said they’d only be gone 20 minutes - they were dropping of waiting guy on a boat out in the bay, then coming straight back.
So we jumped on :-D .

It was very cool.
The tug was cool and the drop off boat was huge.
The mounting method was very disturbing, though.
Thin metal ladder on the side of the boat, a rope on either side.
They pull the ropes to the tug, then the dude swings across on the ropes and grabs the ladder.
Gah!

The water was very wavey.
I felt fine on the way out, but on the way back I started to feel extremely rough.
It was the illestest I’ve ever felt on a boat, I went whiter than usual(!), and I felt rough for a few hours afterwards.
What a wuss…
Still, excellent random experience :-).

In other news, quite a few of jo’s pictures got sold last night at The N of 1000 Ds.
Schweet!

who of the what?

So, last night we went to mercury to see I, Villain play.
Twas cool.

But I did, kind of, last night.
