Consequence

Some facts.

  1. I like listening to music while I work. I do not find it distracting. I find it helpful in making me Do Stuff TM.
  2. I do not like wearing headphones. I don’t like having stuff on my head. I don’t like being closed off from the sounds of the real world.
  3. I’m at the TV office today, where I can’t reasonably use the ghetto-blaster-boombox that I have sitting on my desk.

A consequence:

  • Foot tap, tap, tap, bounce, bounce, whistle, hum, tap, tap, bounce, tra la la

I also like to listen to music while I work. I do enjoy silence but find it destracting while working or studying. I don’t even hear it when I’m reading.

But I am glad I’m not sitting next to you :P

Just be thankful you’re not subjected to KFM all day.

@nant: tee hee. tap, tap, tap.

@aki: gah, I’m surprised your brain hasn’t turned to mush!

We have much the same dilemma at home. For a while there we had separate studies, and all was well, but curses, there we had to go and have a baby and kick Armin (who cannot work with choons) out of his study and into mine. Mind you nowadays I don’t dare listen to music for fear of not hearing baby wake up…

Interesting fact: it’s all to do with how your brain is wired up. Me, see, I have audio hooked up to theta brain state (relaxing, info being gently assimilated). A has it hooked up to beta (info absorbing) and so he can’t NOT actively listen if there is music. (There is also alpha, info sorting.) Interesting.

Re interesting and brains: hmm. That’s my next half hour gone while I goggle brains. Note to self, remember: “brain beta theta -zombies”.
