Cederberg hols

Summary of Cederhol: good, but not great.

More detail, presented in bullet points for your (but mostly my, because I am feeling lazy) convenience:

  • Pain. Jo hurt her neck/shoulder/head area. This put a real damper on the festivities. Poor MojoJojo! :( . She was a bit better by the time we left, and is mostly recovered now.
  • Weather. It was a bit off. It only really rained for one day, but most of the other days were quite chilly, and not the shorts and t-shirt weather I was hoping for. Didn’t stop Eck and Sven from parading around half-dressed, though! (Hmm. Maybe I’m a “glass is half naked” kind of guy instead…?)
  • Scenery. It was lovely. The Cederberg really is a beautiful area, and the feeling of communing with Momma Nature (I licked a tree.) was cool.
  • No cellphones, no Interwebs. I really enjoying unplugging for a few days, especially given the heavy tech build up in the week leading up to the hol. I read lots and lots. It reminded me how much I enjoy reading and how little I’d been doing before the holiday. I’m making a serious effort to fix this now that we’re back home. Piles of books everywhere! :-)
  • Food. We’ve given up eating for a while. Well, not quite. We all ate way too much while we were then. Each meal was huge and tasty. Definitely a recipe (oh ho) for disaster. Keyword: bloat.
  • Low doorways. Every. Single. One. Around 1.5m. It may seem a bit of a daft / small thing to complain about, but hitting your head on one of them really hurt. Keyword: throb. No, make that lump.
  • Tyre Asplode! Due to Complicated Logistics ™, Jo and I were driving Eckbert’s car back to Cape Town, while he stayed on for a few more days (coming back today, IIRC). About 100km from CT, one of the tyres went boom. Mushed up the bumper and stuff. Luckily, we were only 10km from Malmesbury and only 200m from a Cheese Shop (the only thing for miles around). About an hour and a half later, we had been visited by Supa Quick, fixed up, sorted out, drive to M’Bury, paid, and were on our way back to CT. Unfortuately we hit a detour (admittedly, through very pretty country roads) almost immediately.

Um.
That’s it.
The hol has also reminded me that we haven’t done much in-country holidaying, and that we should.
So we shall.

Of course, I meant to say:
“On this holiday I was reminded of how freakishly tall I am.” ;-)

    p.s. hello!

I am quite sure I would have noticed if Martyn was a hobbit. These things stick out, if not very far up.

I second, in fact, that “hello!”
