I’m struggling a bit with what exactly I want to say and how I want to say it, but: go check out Erika Moen‘s post / comic Queer (contains some NSFW imagery).
In it she talks about her sexual identity as a fluctuating and fluid thing, and the intolerance she’s experienced because of it. I think it’s awesome that she’s sharing this and that people are responding to it in a positive way.

There’s some great feedback / commentary on her twitter account. In particular, see the conversation around this tweet (which resonates on a personal level), and this one (labels are guidelines).

I think that lots of things in life are fluid and changeable, especially those related to yourself, your identity, and your personality. I’m not the same person I was last year, let alone five or ten years ago. [Insert real smart book-learning sentence here about never being able to walk in the same river twice]. Even when an aspect of yourself is close to your core, it doesn’t mean it can’t or shouldn’t change. It’s the combination of all the twisting and turning and mishing and mashing that makes you you.

People can sometimes be too swift to apply a label and treat it as a binary state (myself included). Labels should be more like guidelines, and used in a positive way. I want to add “mostly” to the front of any label that I apply to myself.

I think that‘s what I want to say.

Alas, I’ve had only bad experiences with the new Delicious. I’ve been using Pinboard for a while for “Read Later”-ing and now I’m switching to it for everything. Time to update your feed to the pinboard one, please (both of you reading this on RSS!).

Playing with PlayPen

I’m really getting into 8-bit awesomeness at the moment.
I’ve decided to take a bash at doing a bunch of pages for PlayPen.

In related news, I am having a very groovy life at the moment.
There are patches of stressy worky, but in general life is great.
I’m doing lots of creative projects on the go – this makes me very happy. And busy!
