More green

And a shower.

:-)

As you may be able to tell from the first pic, the door to nowhere is now gone.
A bit sad to lose it, but it was kak and crumbling, so *slap* it goes.

Green!

We are now allowed to mention the G word.
The back of the house is being painted green (Joanna Olive Green, in case you were wondering).
It looks a bit like this:

We like.
It’s a bit hard to get a decent colour match for a piccy…
And it’s amazing what a difference a bit of shade makes – you’d swear the paint on opposite walls was a different colour.

Guest room

So, Martyn stayed in the workshop while he was here.
Except that we took out the table and the power tools and hoovered up the dust and stuff.
And it looked like this:

:-)

Pictured bottom right is sproing’s bed that he let Martyn use occasionally.

Various new names

Status update, easy as 1, 2, 3. And 4.

  1. So, the pool is now really, really up and running and in use a bit. On hot days.
And after getting back from the Strandloper. :-D

The solar heating is now operational.
They had to come back about six times to get it fixed – it kept sprouting leaks.
In the meantime, we renamed it the Solar Leaking System.
It heats the pool by pumping cold water up to roof and spraying it out there. That means there’s less cold water in the pool, and therefore it must be warmer. … ahem.
But now it’s actually fixed and doesn’t leak – yay!
And the pool is slowly heating up – now with less ice cold chill!

  2. The pool has been named Tron, due to it’s nighty glowage.
    Hat tip to Mr G.
  3. Green!
Jo Olive Green will soon be the colour of the back of the house.
After going through seven hundred and thiry four tester pots of various greens (that, obviously, never did eactly what they said on the tin) Jo mixed up the green she wanted and painted it on a bit of cardboard, took it to a shop, and they matched and mixed it for her.

    (First attempt was amusing.
Jo: Can you match this colour for me?
Assistant lady: Yes. *walks over to wall of paint swatches*
Jo: Um, never mind. *gets cardboard back, walks off*)

  4. In other news, our uber-builder is quoting around a couple of people we’ve recommended him to – hopefully that will all go well.
  5. And, he’ll quite possible be turning up sometime next week to start doing deck related stuff – woo!
Expect another series of pics soon.

So, it’s kind of finished.

They still need to install the chlorinator, which apparently they do in four weeks time (after letting the coating gunk do its thing). Pool usable in the meantime, though, so I guess it’s a win.

Also, night shot:

Did we ask for blue lights? I don’t remember. I think we would’ve asked for white.

I guess now we can pretend we’re on a spaceship while we swim :-).

Black on the inside

Well, charcoal.

The pool guys seem to be trying this crazy new thing called “working.”

They were at the house yesterday and did the MarbleMadness thing to the insides, so now it’s dark grey.

Today they’re supposed to be coming back and finishing up a bit, and filling it up.

With water.

Some inside shots, demonstrating the “natural, mountain look” on the disclaimer form:

white pipes, black pipes

So, this crazy trend of “doing stuff” seems to be continuing.

<sarcasm>I’m sure it can’t have anything to do with the fact that we’ve been dealing with sub-contractors rather than the actual pool company themselves. No. Nope.</sarcasm>

Pipes! White! For the solar heating of the pool.

Pipes! Black! On the roof, for the solar heating of the pool.
