We’ve thrown a few more trees into the ground:

:D

All is well in Casa Wrensch.
Not much going in inside the house at the moment (nice big list of stuff to do, though!).

Another weekend, another green expansion :).
See: the sprouting of many things on the ground!
Laugh: at the cunning use of old burglar bars as trellis thingies!
Sneeze: since you just had a cat sitting on your head!
(that last one might just be me…)

Also, meet Trunky. New deck chair.

In further, awesome, news: stepchairder! Chair and ladder! Combined! More than meets the eye!
1/2 of which is HW pressie from Jess – thank you! : )

Plugs and more

Green!
This morning we planted two trays of plugs of Daisy Lawn.
Hard work, but fun. Especially when you see the result.
There Shall Be Lawn!
Also went in today – groundcover-y things between the stepping stones and some *deep breath* basil, rocket, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, and baby marrows for the BRB.com’s.

Herb and veggie garden in big raised bed things

A baby Keurboom tree.

In the jungle

Woo! What a fantastic housewarming. :)
Thank you very much to everyone who came.
Lots of people brought us planty goodies – thank you!

The thin green line:

Widescreen version:
(you might not be able to tell, but this is actually several photos put together. yes, it’s true!)

Then we spent a very happy Sunday evening planting a whole bunch of them (and one or two we went and bought ourselves from two local guys). Click for slightly large than usual pic, for the details.

Starting on the one by Jo’s foot and going clockwise:
lemon tree; succulents; perlagonium; protea; more perlagoniums; lemon tree the second; perlagonium; (kate) bush; several succluents. I think.
Yay!
It’s starting to look like a proper garden now.

Tonight: move planters, fill them up with dirt, and plant the remaining greenery.

The garden now has a layer of compost over the top, a whole bunch of ickle logs as breakwater thingies, and lots of steppy stoney jobs.
:-D

The end of Dirt! The Dirt is done!

ahem…

A strange turn of events lead to us unbagging the rest of the dirt this morning.
The rest is compost, which is fluffier.
Do you think Master Organics (our dealer) employs a compost fluffer?

Dirtbags

More progress in garden-making goodness.
a.m.:

p.m.:

Most of the dirt now unbagged and plonked into the garden.
A fat wodge of compost dolloped onto the beds-to-be, and the rest moved off the ground so that we could dig and dirt that patch.
Not massively clear from the pic, but it’s only the bit around the tree that still needs new dirt. Go us! (possibly Go straight to sleep, do not pass Go, do not collect 200 bags of dirt. We are The Tired.)

Bags of dirt!
Dirty bags!
Compost!

The bags on the left are piled almost as tall as me.
Yikes!
Now we just need to pour it out and dig it in.
This may take several weekends… :)

If you dig it, they will dirt.

So, we decided to dig up the back garden and pull out all the crappy grass-like weeds that currently live there before the topsoil dudes come along and get dirt-y with us.
Pictures taken over a few days, in the bit between new year’s day and monday just gone.

Initial trenches by deck and back wall. Lots of “grass.”

Some serious spading and forking later: half off!

Two very sore bodies later: mostly done. Can you dig it?

Cats helping. Thanks, guys.
