Jo on (specially arranged for this shot, long time after they were finished and in use) Chairs of Awesomeness (that Jo painted and Jess’ Ma very kindly upholstered).

DVD rack!
Made by Jo, with minor assistance from me.
Coobs!

If you dig it, they will dirt.

So, we decided to dig up the back garden and pull out all the crappy grass-like weeds that currently live there before the topsoil dudes come along and get dirt-y with us.
Pictures taken over a few days, in the bit between new year’s day and monday just gone.

Initial trenches by deck and back wall. Lots of “grass.”

Some serious spading and forking later: half off!

Two very sore bodies later: mostly done. Can you dig it?

Cats helping. Thanks, guys.

Front garden continues to asplode at excellent pace:

Pretty white flowers from the potato plant:

Meanwhile, elsewhere on the ERF: red frangipanis, flown down from Jo’s Ma’s garden, as hand luggage (one grounded, one earthed):

Grow!

The front garden has gone KaPow over the past few months.
Go Jo and her green (and red1) fingers!

Also: a frangipani tree, and local (red) wildlife taking an interest.
It followed us home from Obz Fest and now lives in the front garden.

1 – the chairs. Pictures later… Also red: other random parts of Jo: elbow, heel, right shoulder.

The true story of a back garden in Cape Town that is Windy (like many places in the Cape).

Oops!
Yes, that is a ladder in the pool.

more deck:

more green:
(i.e. painter dude is back, now that we’ve decided the whole house should be green and not just the bit at the back)

possible pretentious title for above photo: “The transition from a life of Pumpkin Walls to Jolive Green Lifestyle Living, with a Unicorn, as a Young Man, Again Last Summer.”
Umm…

Salty

So, Pool Cnuts installed the chlorinator last week and have finally officially Fucked Off.
Yay having a chlorinator, Boo them leaving wires hanging all over the show.
We shall tack them against the wall or summat, eventually.
Here it is:

Shiny!

Deckage continues apace:
(trying to keep up that whole photo a day in the same place thing)

Exciting times!
Also: we has umbrella. Lol.

So, we’re now putting in some deckage.
A big bit just outside the kitchen and around the pool.
And a more ickle outside the guest workshop room thing.

The frame support hoohaa is pretty much done, now they just need to plank it – yay!
Pics:

In continued pool-company-is-incredibly-shit news: four weeks after coating the inside of the pool has passed and it’s time for the salt water chlorinator to be installed. The pool has been available for use the whole, but apparently the SWC had to wait.
So, we call and book them for Thursday and they say yes.
We come home Thursday night to find no SWC. Of course.
We do find, however, a creepy-crawler-cleaner thing in the pool.
Friday morning we call and they’re very apologetic, promise that the SWC will be there Friday, and deny all knowledge of the CCC.
*sigh*
Let’s see what happens this week.

Once this is finished, we want nothing more to do with them, ever again (quite understandable, I think).
I’m almost hoping they call and want to discuss a pool maintenance plan so I can reply with:

Ahahahahahahahahahahaha. Haaa. Ahahahahahaha!
What, seriously?
Not a fucking chance.
*hangs up*

Oh, teh LOL.

And… sit!

New (eating place) chairs, currently living outside.
Once they’ve been painted and re-upholstered they’ll be allowed inside with the other furniture.
:)

More green

And a shower.

:-)

As you may be able to tell from the first pic, the door to nowhere is now gone.
A bit sad to lose it, but it was kak and crumbling, so *slap* it goes.
