The true story of a back garden in Cape Town that is Windy (like many places in the Cape).
Oops!
Yes, that is a ladder in the pool.
more green:
(i.e. painter dude is back, now that we’ve decided the whole house should be green and not just the bit at the back)

possible pretentious title for above photo: “The transition from a life of Pumpkin Walls to Jolive Green Lifestyle Living, with a Unicorn, as a Young Man, Again Last Summer.”
Umm…
So, Pool Cnuts installed the chlorinator last week and have finally officially Fucked Off.
Yay having a chlorinator, Boo them leaving wires hanging all over the show.
We shall tack them against the wall or summat, eventually.
Here it is:

Shiny!
Deckage continues apace:
(trying to keep up that whole photo a day in the same place thing)

Exciting times!
Also: we has umbrella. Lol.
So, we’re now putting in some deckage.
A big bit just outside the kitchen and around the pool.
And a more ickle outside the guest workshop room thing.
The frame support hoohaa is pretty much done, now they just need to plank it – yay!
Pics:
In continued pool-company-is-incredibly-shit news: four weeks after coating the inside of the pool has passed and it’s time for the salt water chlorinator to be installed. The pool has been available for use the whole, but apparently the SWC had to wait.
So, we call and book them for Thursday and they say yes.
We come home Thursday night to find no SWC. Of course.
We do find, however, a creepy-crawler-cleaner thing in the pool.
Friday morning we call and they’re very apologetic, promise that the SWC will be there Friday, and deny all knowledge of the CCC.
*sigh*
Let’s see what happens this week.
Once this is finished, we want nothing more to do with them, ever again (quite understandable, I think).
I’m almost hoping they call and want to discuss a pool maintenance plan so I can reply with:
Ahahahahahahahahahahaha. Haaa. Ahahahahahaha!
What, seriously?
Not a fucking chance.
*hangs up*
Oh, teh LOL.
Status update, easy as 1, 2, 3. And 4.
The solar heating is now operational.
They had to come back about six times to get it fixed – it kept sprouting leaks.
In the meantime, we renamed it the Solar Leaking System.
It heats the pool by pumping cold water up to roof and spraying it out there. That means there’s less cold water in the pool, and therefore it must be warmer. … ahem.
But now it’s actually fixed and doesn’t leak – yay!
And the pool is slowly heating up – now with less ice cold chill!
(First attempt was amusing.
Jo: Can you match this colour for me?
Assistant lady: Yes. *walks over to wall of paint swatches*
Jo: Um, never mind. *gets cardboard back, walks off*)
And, he’ll quite possible be turning up sometime next week to start doing deck related stuff – woo!
Expect another series of pics soon.
Follow me to after the jump for some animated gifferyness.

So, it’s kind of finished.
They still need to install the chlorinator, which apparently they do in four weeks time (after letting the coating gunk do its thing). Pool usable in the meantime, though, so I guess it’s a win.
Also, night shot:
Did we ask for blue lights? I don’t remember. I think we would’ve asked for white.
I guess now we can pretend we’re on a spaceship while we swim :-).
Well, charcoal.
The pool guys seem to be trying this crazy new thing called “working.”
They were at the house yesterday and did the MarbleMadness thing to the insides, so now it’s dark grey.
Today they’re supposed to be coming back and finishing up a bit, and filling it up.
With water.
Some inside shots, demonstrating the “natural, mountain look” on the disclaimer form:
So, this crazy trend of “doing stuff” seems to be continuing.
<sarcasm>I’m sure it can’t have anything to do with the fact that we’ve been dealing with sub-contractors rather than the actual pool company themselves. No. Nope.</sarcasm>
Pipes! White! For the solar heating of the pool.
Pipes! Black! On the roof, for the solar heating of the pool.
